みなさま、こんにちは！

みなさまはハロウィンどのように過ごされますか？

さて、今週は動きの基本単語クイズです。

下記の英英辞典の定義になりそうな英単語を考えてみてください。

1.to move very quickly, by moving your legs more quickly than when you walk

2.to move yourself through water using your arms and legs

3.to push yourself up into the air, or over or away from something etc, using your legs

4.to move forward with quick steps and jumps

5.to run slowly and steadily, especially as a way of exercising

6.to make someone or something move by pressing them

7.to use your hands to make something or someone move towards you or in the direction that your hands are moving

答えは1.run 2.swim 3.jump 4.skip 5.jog 6.push 7.pull

簡単すぎた方もいれば、難しかった方もいるかと思います。

ですが上記の例文（英英辞典の定義）を読んで理解し単語を推測する力がつけば英語の基礎力が付きます。

ちなみに最近、英英辞典で調べた単語で面白いなと思ったのは、

finger（手の指）です。

下記の定義を読んで、thumb（親指）はfingerには入らないことを知りました(((( ;ﾟдﾟ)))

one of the four long thin parts on your hand, not including your thumb

なおtoe（足の指）は下記のように5本ともに当てはまるようです。

one of the five movable parts at the end of your foot

う～む、ややこしい( ;∀;)

もちろん英和辞典をしっかり読めば同じ説明が日本語で書いてあります。

ですが、日本語だと必要な箇所だけ読んでしまい、意外と気が付きません。

英英辞典でも調べてみるとまた違った楽しさが味わえます！！

Tomorrow will mark my last day teaching at Amic, and Wednesday will be my last day in Japan. I have met some amazing people while I have been living here and I will miss them and Japan. Although I haven’t travelled around Japan as much as I’d have liked, I did manage to see many wonderful attractions in and around Matsuyama and the surrounding areas. From beautiful cherry blossom spots to wondrous waterfalls and rivers, magnificent rapeseed fields to glorious temples – this really is a breathtaking place.

Thank you all for your kindness and I wish you all good fortune in the future.

映画『君の名は。』を勧められたので観たら、予想以上に感動し、

先入観だけでダメだと思わず何でもトライしてみるもんだと改めて感じた週末でした 😉

先入観に関する出来事を、もう一つ。

お彼岸を知らせてくれるかのように彼岸花がいたるところで咲き出しましたね✿

小さい頃は、彼岸花と聞くと勝手に不気味なイメージを持っていて近づかないように避けていました。

彼岸花を好きだという人に会ったことはありませんが、

家の隅っこに咲いている白い彼岸花を見て、その自然美に魅了されてしまいました 😯 

英語で「cluster‐amaryllis」「red spider lily」などと言うようで、

lilyの名前が示す通りユリ科に含められるそうです。

何事もちょっと視点を変えるだけで、その存在が180度変わりますね☆

英会話スクール　アミック

I went to my first football (soccer) match in Japan yesterday. It was a lovely day! The weather was pleasant – not too hot, too cold or raining. It’s a lovely stadium, there were plenty of stalls selling food and memorabilia. There was a festival atmosphere as I walked around the stalls, smelling the wonderful food and looking at the uniforms, teddy bears, scarves and such like. Ehime FC’s kit for home games is orange and it was lovely to see so many bright colours around me.

Before the game began there were displays of dancing and singing on the pitch, that was wonderful to see. During the game there were many chants being sung and everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was quite an exciting game, at halftime the score was 1-1 (1 all) and there was anticipation in the air. The second half was just as exciting, unfortunately Ehime FC lost 3-2, but I thought it was a great effort.
