なんと校長が聖火ランナーに…！
アミック 校長である私、玉井里美が東京2020オリンピックの聖火ランナーとして選出されたとの速報が届きました！
日時や場所は後日連絡が来るとのことです。
夏に一般公募に応募していたもので、応募の際には400字程度の自己PRと応募動機を書きました。
そこでは、トライアスロンを6年前に始めましたが、私が頑張っている姿を見ることで、友人達は元気や勇気をもらうと言ってくれますし、また自分自身もその言葉が励みとなり頑張れるので、良い力の循環ができており、これからも皆が勇気を持って元気に生きていけるような励みになりたいとの趣旨を書きました。
そして、9月末に１次選考を通過したとの連絡があり、更に400字程度で前回とは出来るだけ違う自己PRと応募動機を書くようにとの連絡を受けました。
そこで私は、アミックについて以下のように書きました。
私は、自分の特技を活かしながら地元のために精一杯働くことで、地域のコミュニティーを盛り上げたいと思い、２１年前に英会話スクールを開業しました。これまでに、米国、英国は元より、欧州、南ア、カナダ、豪州、NZなど、実に様々な人々を講師として迎え研修し、質の高いレッスンを提供することによって、日常的には英語に接することがない地方に住む人々に、英語という言語だけでなく文化の多様性や面白さなども常に伝え続けて来ました。英語を学ぶことによって、皆に視野を広げ、より自由で幸せになってもらいたいという思いで長年英語教育に打ち込んできました。更に最近では、IT教育を加えることによってより人々の未来の可能性を広げるお手伝いをしています。私は、聖火ランナーとして走ることで、今まで培って来た地域コミュニティーに於ける世界との絆をしっかり確認しながら、明るい未来を拓こうとする人々を心から応援したいと思っています。
400字ピッタリでした（笑）
このように、私が聖火ランナーとして走ることができるのは、トライアスロンだけでなく、これまでがんばってアミックで英語教育やプログラミング教育などに取り組んできたことが大きく評価されたものだと思っています。
皆様のこれまでのご支援に感謝すると共に、これからも一層の努力をして行きたいと思っています。

Tobe-yaki
Recently I visited the pottery museum in Tobe. Pottery is very important to my family, and my parents and my brother are all potters and teachers of pottery in Australia. In fact my mother first learned pottery in Nara when she was an exchange student during high school. Both my family and I are very interested in the history and specialized techniques of Japanese pottery. I enjoyed my visit to the Tobe pottery museum and learned a lot about Tobe-yaki.
The museum had many examples of pottery throughout Tobe’s history and good information explaining the materials and techniques used to make Tobe-yaki. I was especially interested to see the tools that are used to shape clay, grind glaze materials and fire pots.
Throughout the museum there were small signs with QR codes that provided English translations of all the information. The English translations were very well written with perfect grammar and vocabulary. I appreciate the hard work that Tobe pottery museum has done to be welcoming to English-speaking visitors!
There were many beautiful pots at the museum, and even the bathroom sinks were handmade pottery!
I enjoyed my visit to the pottery museum very much. I loved seeing so many examples of the amazing and unique pottery of Tobe!

大きい秋も下さい。
Hello! 重信校Hitomiです。
I like fall the best of the four seasons in Japan. When I ask my friends,
“Which season do you like best?” many of them answer “Fall”.
When I ask people, “Which do you like better, spring or fall?” more people choose fall because their hay fever is better in fall than in spring.
I’m happy in fall because my birthday is in fall. I like autumn colors because they makes me feel romantic and sentimental. The temperature is perfect. It is not too warm and not too cool. Fall is a harvest season. Not only newly harvested rice, but also fruits, vegetables, nuts and other seasonal food I enjoy in fall.
But why is fall so short? I feel the autumn season is becoming shorter with every passing year. This September I wore short sleeves, but suddenly it became chilly in the morning and at night, and now I need to wear a down jacket. It looks like summer turned into winter without fall. I want to enjoy fall longer! December is coming soon. Do we have to enter cold winter yet? I know we have fun events like Christmas and New Year’s Party in winter. But if possible, I want to linger in this nice autumn season. Fall, Fall, don’t go away!
生徒さんと最近交わす会話で、「もう冬になっちゃうんですかね…」「今年秋ありました？」なんて言うことがあって、秋の実感がないことを嘆いております。秋の風景、気温、食べ物、イメージすべてが好きです。生徒の皆さんも秋が好きと言われる方が多いのですが、一直線に冬になだれ込むような寒さを感じるこの頃、皆様秋はenjoyできましたか？
秋は年々短くなるように感じます。
10月の半ば頃は西条から寒風山トンネルを通って愛媛との県境に近い高知で、野生のりんどう（Autumn Bell flower）を見に行きました。
10月15日、16日は毎年恒例の西条祭りを楽しみましたし（Hitomiは西条から通勤しております）
11月上旬には母と祖父の住む仙台に行き、すでに冷たい空気の中紅葉を楽しみ、母の畑で秋らしい収穫もしました。（ジャガイモ・サツマイモ・サトイモ・キクイモ・コンニャクイモなど芋シリーズと、かりんなど）
まあ、楽しんだのですけれど。秋が四季の中で一番長かったらいいのに！
小さい秋見つけた♪ なんて言ってる間に冬。大きい秋も欲しいです！
街にはせっかちなクリスマスツリーがあちこちに。アミック重信校のあるフジグラン重信でも大きなツリーとともに、クリスマスの音楽が響きます。
はー、冬ですね。我が家でもしっかりこたつを出して冬支度。うちの猫が一番喜んでいます。
アミックもクリスマスパーティーとクリスマスウィークがあります。冬も楽しみましょう！
